The hot summer sun has finally relented. The breeze is cool enough to warrant long sleeves during the day and a sweatshirt at night. The air is dry and crisp and perfect for moving a bit faster. Take advantage of this incredible weather to explore the outdoors when it is truly at its best. Go leaf peeping, camping, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, pumpkin picking and white water rafting. As the weather continues getting colder, the snow presents a whole different side of sports activities. There's skiing, snowmobiling, tubing, sleigh riding, snow fort/chair building, ice skating, and of course, sitting by the fire enveloped in the arms of the one you love. A great way to take in all of the season's colors is by floating along a river or lake. Not only will trees bursting with color surround you, but added with the water's reflection, you will find yourself in the middle of a golden rainbow. Top the day off by camping under the stars so that your first site in the morning is nature's finery. As you enjoy all that the outdoors has to offer, cabin fever will no longer be a part of your vocabulary. Instead, when you think of fall and winter you'll think of exhilaration, activity, and fun. For those interested in changing leaves, websites and phone numbers exist that will provide you with information on the best zones of color. For example, New England's trees tend to begin their fall farewell in late September, while the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina's change around early November, although each year is different.
